Why Are The Letters So Jumbled? Using The "WELD" Feature In Design Space

When you import files (such as .SVG) into Cricut Design Space, sometimes you need to make minor modifications before you're able to "Make It."  For instance...

Here's How To Fix It.
​Step 1: Identify The Layers

First, you'll have to upload a file into Design Space.  In order to do so, you'll need to have already established login criteria for the program.  This particular .SVG file can be found HERE.   

After the file is uploaded into the software, you may see that each letter is separated onto it's own layer.  This can be seen on the right hand side of the below image.  This particular file was created with two layers.  The letters being on one layer and the other consisting of only the Shamrock.  This can be modified in order to change the colors of particular letters or words.  However, for this demo, we just want the two layers.  

Step 2: Separate the Layers

The image will likely open with all of the layers being grouped together.  That is to say that all of the layers will be highlighted whenever you click one portion of the image(s).  You can separate these in one of two ways.
A.) You can Unlock the Group (which links both layers together) by clicking the Lock on the bottom left of the image.  See the two images below.

B.) Click Ungroup to separate the layers.

EXPLANATION: The file has a layer hierarchy.  The main one "PatrickWasASaint" has sub-layers that consist of the text and the graphic.  "Unlocking" allows you to work separately on them while still being under the "PatrickWasASaint" grouping.  When one "Ungroups" it, the main "PatrickWasASaint" grouping is eliminated, leaving only the two separate layers.  Either one works.

Step 3: Weld the text

Now that everything is separated, click only on the layer that contains the text.  You can do this by clicking on the text on the image OR by clicking the text layer name on the right side of the screen.  

Once you've isolated the text layer, click WELD on the bottom right of the screen.

Step 4: Check To See That It's Correct

You'll know that everything is correct when the layer now shows all of the text and not just a series of single letters.
